DENISON, Tex. (KXII) - Lake Texoma visitors will have a new place to stay at a tiny home resort in Denison.
Although there were already tiny homes available for rent on Lake Texoma, CEO of Tiny Home Vacations Tyson Mathews said that it's the first tiny home resort in the area.
"We came out here to Texoma, we did a lot of research and found out that Texoma is very under-utilized and has a lot of demand and is needed for vacation rentals," Mathews said.
Mathews said that he saw a need for places to stay at Lake Texoma, so he decided to develop a tiny home resort near Grandpappy Point Marina.
Once it's finished, he said there will be about 30 tiny homes and 20 "glamping," or glamorous camping tents, for guests to rent.
"There's just a lot of things to do out here and there's already 6 million visitors that come to the lake already," Mathews said.
Right now, there are six tiny homes available to rent and a cabin for bigger groups.
"We started renting the first six and those got booked immediately, 80 bookings already," Mathews said.
Mathews said the resort will have an obstacle course, horseback riding, hiking trails, a community clubhouse and a pool.
"The tiny homes theme already has kind of already has a unique feature to it, a lot of people have talked about how they want to build their own but the fact that they can come stay in one and kind of test it out," Mathews said.
Mathews expects the entire resort to be finished by spring.
