PARIS, Texas -- Over a hundred workers have been laid off at one of Paris' largest employers.

According to Turner Industries Senior Vice President Stephen Toups, 105 employees have been laid off recently across all divisions in the Paris plant.

He says delays in construction projects and a shortage of orders for large pieces of pipe are the reasons for the layoffs.

The plant currently employs five hundred people.

Toups says the company is cautiously optimistic that these layoffs are not permanent.

Currently, Turner Industries is working closely with Workforce Solutions Northeast Texas to help laid off workers receive guidance moving forward.

Toups also says that some employees can be re-trained and return to their jobs at Turner Industries, if business picks up in the future.

He says no more layoffs are expected at the Paris plant.
