A missing woman from Garvin County has been found safe after police fatally shot her kidnapper when he attacked an officer with a knife following a pursuit in Washita County Thursday night.

Challan Bailey, 26, told police she had been beaten by Cade Humphrey, 30, and forced to go with him Wednesday.

According to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, Cordell Police and Washita County deputies located the 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis believed to be driven by Humphrey around 9 p.m. Thursday.

When they attempted to pull the vehicle over, a pursuit ensued south on Highway 183. Agents say Humphrey tried to ram a deputy head-on, but crashed out into a police unit three miles later.

Agents say Humphrey then got out of the car brandishing a knife and attacked an officer. That officer shot Humphrey. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Bailey, last seen Wednesday in Union City, was also taken to the hospital to be treated and was released.

Humphrey failed to appear in court on two counts of assault and battery on an officer from an incident in Carter County in May. Carter County deputies tried to locate him and discovered he and Bailey were missing.
