University of Oklahoma Heisman-winning quarterback Kyler Murray said Monday he is devoting himself to professional football after he signed a contract to play professional baseball last summer.

Murray said via his Twitter account Monday morning,

"Moving forward I am firmly committing my life and time to becoming an NFL quarterback."

Murray will forego his senior season at OU and enter the NFL Draft this spring, where many experts project him as a first round pick.

Murray, who Oakland drafted as an outfielder, was selected ninth overall last June in the MLB Draft and agreed to a minor league contract that included a $4.66 million signing bonus.

The A's start full-squad workouts Saturday, a day after their position players report.
