Oklahoma facing emergency blood shortage

(KXII) - The Oklahoma Blood Institute says they are experiencing an emergency blood shortage and are in urgent need of donors.

OBI says a combination of winter weather, blood drive cancellations and widespread illness have all contributed to a sharp down turn in donations in recent weeks.

On Monday they said they have less than one-day supply.

Officials say typically OBI maintains a three to five day supply for Oklahoma hospitals.
