Oklahoma public school enrollment tops 700,000

OKLAHOMA CITY (KXII) - Enrollment in Oklahoma public schools topped 700,000 for the first time in state history.

The Oklahoma State Department of education says enrollment for the 2019-2020 school year shows 703,650 students, 5,064 students more than the previous school year.

Enrollment has increased by just over 49,000 students since the 2009-2010 school year.

Oklahoma City and Tulsa public schools remained the top two most populous districts in Oklahoma with 42,513 and 38,509 students respectively, including students enrolled in charter schools.
