One man arrested after brief standoff with Sherman police

SHERMAN, Tex. (KXII)- Sherman police got a call from a woman that her son was holding his girlfriend hostage, at town and country mobile home park just before 1 p.m. Friday.

Sherman police say 47-year-old Timothy Taylor's mother called police because Taylor and his girlfriend were arguing.

Police say Taylor wouldn't let his girlfriend call police, and at some point during the argument Taylor was holding a knife.

However Taylor's girlfriend says Taylor never held the knife to her.

Lt. John Kennemer says when police arrived on scene, Taylor surrendered in less than five minutes.

"It was very short, when the officers arrived on scene they started calling him on the phone and call him out on the loud-haler and he gave up pretty quickly. It didn't take very long at all," said Lt. Kennemer.

No one was hurt during the standoff.

Taylor was taken to the Grayson County Jail, as he faces a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, as well as a Collin County warrant for theft.
