TEXAS & OKLAHOMA (KXII) -- Tuesday marks the 17th anniversary of the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center with many Texoma towns hosting remembrance ceremonies to honor the victims and first responders.
Landmark Bank in Sherman will be holding their annual Patriot Day Remembrance Ceremony Tuesday morning at 9:00.
The Sherman Honor Guard will perform the flag ceremony with Sherman Police Chief Zachary Flores speaking afterwards.
Sherman Police Regional Pipe Band and the Sherman High School Band will be playing music throughout the ceremony.
Durant will be hosting their own 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony, Flagpole Dedication Tuesday morning at the new Durant Regional Emergency Operations Center at the Durant Airport.
The center will be receiving a flagpole and an American flag to be placed on the pole.
The event will take place at 10:00.
Other events around Texoma include Gainesville hosting their own ceremony along with a retiree brick dedication at the Gainesville Fire Department Station Three on Pecan Street.
The events starts at 9:00.
Tishomingo will have their remembrance ceremony at the Chickasaw Community Center on East 6th Street.
One of the speakers at the event will be Oklahoma Speaker of the House Charles McCall.
The ceremony begins at noon.
