Police impersonator caught, arrested in Sherman

SHERMAN, Tex. (KXII) - A Denison man police say posed as an officer to try and pull over a woman was arrested in Sherman Monday night.

Police said around 11:45 p.m. a woman called claiming that someone in a gray Chevy Malibu got behind her and activated a flashing red and blue light to try and pull her over on East Lamar Street.

The woman told police she believed it to be an unmarked police car, so she pulled over.

That's when the man sped past her, and she called police.

Police located and stopped the vehicle in the 400 block of East US Highway 82, where they found a small window mounted red and blue light bar, as well as a small amount of marijuana.

They arrested Cory Tutaj, 27, of Denison for impersonating a public servant and possession of marijuana.
