Police investigating card skimmers at Ardmore fuel stations

ARDMORE, Okla. (KXII) -- Police report there has been increased debit and credit card number thefts in the area, and police are investigating how credit card skimmers play a role.

Skimmers use technology that reads and records card chip information, that is collected by criminals.

Capt. Keith Ingle said the thefts are occurring when citizens pay for gas at the pump. Ingle said Police are targeting gas stations on North Commerce Street.

Police said to protect yourself, don't pay at the pump -- ever. Go inside the station to pay for fuel.

Anyone who believes they have been the victim of credit /debit card thefts should contact police immediately.
