ARDMORE, Okla. (KXII) -- (UPDATED: 11/12/17 @ 8:00 p.m)

Ardmore police are investigating after two people were found dead in a burned vehicle early Saturday morning.

"Its shocking. I was surprised. I didn't expect to hear that." Neighbor Ronald Brenan said.

Brenan says he was driving through his neighborhood Saturday morning, when he came on Anderson Steet Southest, near Douglas Street, and was detoured by police. He says at first he thought it was just a vehicle fire.

"I seen the firefighters there, they had the whole road sectioned off down there, and police had me turn around." Brenan said.

He later learned police recovered two bodies from the burned car around 4:30 a.m, deaths police are treating as suspicious.

"I think its crazy. Its not ordinary for here, to have that in this neighborhood." Brenan said.

Police say they don't know how the fire started yet, and that they are still investigating; leaving many in the neighborhood too afraid to speak with us Sunday.

"Its close to home," Brenan said. "There's no telling what happened, but I know it was too close to my house, so I put my house more on guard."

The names of the victims have not yet been released.
