PONTOTOC COUNTY, Okla. (KXII) - The Pontotoc County Sheriff says one man is dead and another in the hospital after a shooting Friday in Ada.

Sheriff John Christian says Jimmy Northcutt Jr. showed up at the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center with a gunshot wound to his back early Friday morning.

Christian says Northcutt was taken to OU Medical Center and told deputies he got into a confrontation with Brian Doherty in Center west of Ada.

Northcutt told deputies and OSBI agents Doherty shot him and then that he shot Doherty three times.

Christian says deputies found Doherty's body at a marijuana grow operation. He says Doherty was registered with OMMA and in the process of getting registered through the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics to become legal.

Christian says Northcutt said in a statement that he went to the property Thursday afternoon and flew a drone over the property, claiming to have had a relationship with Doherty's ex-wife.

Northcutt told officials he was confronted by Doherty when he went back to retrieve his drone, and that's when the shooting happened.

OSBI is investigating and Christian says information will be handed over to the district attorney to determine if charges will be filed.
