FANNIN COUNTY, Tex. (KXII) - A pregnant mother and her 2-year-old child are dead after a crash in Fannin County late Friday night.

Texas Highway Patrol Trooper Mark Tackett says it happened close to midnight on State Highway 11 east of Whitewright.

He says 20-year-old Keagan Cannaday of Celina was driving east in his truck at a high speed.

Troopers say Cannaday drove into the westbound lanes, crashing into a truck towing a trailer loaded with wood.

Tackett says the driver of the truck, 39-year-old Arnulfo Alvarez of Sulphur Springs, was taken to a McKinney hospital with serious injuries.

He says Alvarez's 3-year-old son Andres was taken to a Dallas hospital with serious injuries.

Troopers say his wife 25-year-old Juana Alvarez, who was seven months pregnant with a baby boy, and his 2-year-old son Lucas were pronounced dead at the scene.

Tackett says Cannaday had been drinking, and he was taken to a Plano hospital with serious injuries.

Troopers are still investigating the crash.
