TISHOMINGO, Okla. (KXII)-- A Tishomingo teacher and coach, suspended after her arrest on charges of lewd acts with a child, may still get paid while on suspension.

48-year-old Shelley Duncan is accused of having a sexual relationship with a 14-year old student. Court documents say investigators found several inappropriate text messages between Duncan and the boy.

The Oklahoma State Board of Education told us two weeks ago that she was suspended WITHOUT pay. But at tonight's meeting, her husband and superintendent Kevin Duncan said different.

"At this time, that certificate remains suspended pending the outcome of court proceedings," Duncan said. "The district has been instructed by legal counsel, per the Teacher Due Process Act governed by Oklahoma statute, that the teacher is entitled to compensation during her suspension."

When asked to clarify the issue after the meeting, Duncan said he couldn't comment on personnel issues. School board president Doug Blackburn also had nothing to say about the issue.

KXII will keep following the story.
