RATTAN, Okla. (KXII) -- The Pushmataha County Sheriff's Office is investigating a relationship between a junior high teacher and 17-year-old boy who attends Rattan High School.
"Wow, I can't believe it," Rattan resident Brandy Wiggins said..
It's an allegation that's rattled the town of Rattan - a sheriff's office investigation into a supposed inappropriate relationship between a 17 year old student and now former Rattan Junior high teacher, 28-year-old Alisha Jobe.
Jobe turned in her resignation on Friday, the same day the Sheriff's office says they were tipped off by the superintendent.
"Well I found out about it yesterday morning, and some people found out before that," Rattan High School senior Dale Clifton said. "I just think they both should have thought about it, because it ruined more people's lives than just theirs."
Parents like Brandie Wiggins find the situation to be unbelievable for a small town like Rattan.
"We send our kids to school to be safe, and then for them to touch them or have a relationship with them is unbelievable," Wiggins said. "It's a disgrace."
Added Clifton: "I thought it wasn't very smart for either one of them to do it in general."
Rattan Superintendent Shari Pillow said in a written statement, "If any allegations were made about any inappropriate behavior involving faculty, staff, or students, the situation would be handled aggressively and appropriately."
So far no charges have been filed against Jobe.
