The new District 62 state representative was sworn in Wednesday morning.

Reggie Smith was sworn in by former rep and current Grayson County judge Larry Phillips.

Smith held it at the Woodlands Nursing Home in Denison so that his father could be present.

Smith will represent Grayson, Fannin and Delta counties in the Texas House.

He says orientation starts next week in Austin followed by the session in January.

"I wanna thank the good people of District 62 for the support," said Smith. "We had a tremendous response to our campaign over 14 months. I can't wait to get to their business in Austin."
