SHERMAN, Tex. (KXII) - The Grayson County Sheriff's Office is warning residents about a phone scam in which the caller poses as a sheriff's investigator claiming to have a warrant for your arrest.
Capt. Sarah Bigham said their agency has received several recent calls regarding the scam.
Bigham said the caller instructs you to go to a local grocery store and pay for a voucher to keep from being arrested.
"Our deputies and investigators do not call and tell you about warrants," Bigham said. "They would not require a voucher to clear a warrant."
She also advises you to never give these callers any personal information including your date of birth, address, Social Security number or banking information.
If you have received one of these calls and given any identifying information Bigham says to contact your local law enforcement agency to make a report.
