Second arrest made in Denison plumbing store murder

GRAYSON COUNTY, Tex. (KXII) - A second suspect is now in custody for the murder of Robert Allen about one year ago at Allen's Plumbing. Investigators say the two plotted this crime together.

"The evidence in this case proves they had a pretty close relationship. Close enough to commit a murder together," said Grayson County District Attorney Brett Smith.

Denison Police arrested Timothy Barnum Monday morning for the murder of Allen on Oct. 31 last year.

Last week Tyrone Sommers was arrested for the same offense.

Smith said Barnum had a relationship and child with Allen's daughter.

"Barnum has several charges pending in relation to Robert Allen's daughter," Smith said. "She is a victim in several retaliation and assault family violence cases."

He said the Allen family was trying to limit Barnum from seeing Allen's daughter.

The 46-year-old was already in jail at the time of his arrest, facing violent felony charges and has several several convictions including attempted murder and aggravated assault.

"They conspired together to murder Robert Allen," Smith said.

We spoke with Allen's brother Johnny who tells us he's grateful another arrest was made and they are thankful law enforcement has been working for the past year.

"It's very important to get two violent criminals off the street," said Denison Police Lt. Mike Eppler. "Certainly from a public safety aspect. We're glad also the family is getting relief."

Both suspects are being held in the Grayson County jail on $1 million bonds.
