Major highway in Bells closed after semi crash to reopen Friday

BELLS, Tex. (KXII) - Officials say U.S. Highway 69 should reopen Friday, days after a semi crashed into a railroad bridge.

The City of Bells said in a Facebook post if repairs go as planned the highway will reopen Friday evening.

TxDOT reports both lanes of Highway 69 between F.M. 1897 (Ole Ambrose Road) and State Highway 56 are closed.

Officials say the crash happened just after midnight Wednesday morning. Authorities say a semi was headed south on Highway 69 and the load appeared to be too tall.

No injuries have been reported.

The crash is still under investigation. Officials warn if you travel this road, you should find an alternate route.
