Sen. Inhofe meets with civic, business leaders in Ardmore

ARDMORE, Okla. (KXII) - Sen. James Inhofe met with civic and business leaders Friday afternoon in Ardmore to discuss topics like the low national unemployment rate and the rise of oil and gas exports.

Inhofe said he's also been visiting places in Oklahoma impacted by heavy flooding.

Inhofe is chairman of the Senate Armed Services and said he has also been focusing on more funding for the US military since it is behind other countries in weapons technology like hypersonics, missiles that can fly five times the speed of sound.

"China and Russia are both ahead of us in hypersonics," Inhofe said. "Artillery, they're actually ahead of us in artillery. We have allowed that to happen and that's the main thing I'm concerned with and I want to make sure everybody knows."

Inhofe said he will continue building on the successes seen under the Trump administration.
