Sheriff's office warns of scam

LAMAR COUNTY, Tex. (KXII) -- The sheriff says someone is calling people in the area and threatening to arrest them for not reporting to jury duty, while posing as a deputy or even the sheriff himself.

The caller wants people to load a prepaid debit card with $2500 and send it to them or asks them for credit card and account information or their social security number.

The sheriff's office says this is a scam, do not fall for it.

Never give out your personal information and do not send money to someone you don't know.
