Sherman Airport chapter honored, scholarship granted

SHERMAN, Tex. (KXII) - The Sherman Municipal Airport's Experimental Association Chapter celebrated 50 years Thursday.

The Sherman chapter of the EAA, 323, started 50 years ago in 1969.

Representatives from the national EAA were at the Sherman airport to give them a special plaque and a day of celebration.

They also presented a $10,000 scholarship to local high school senior Jacob Baldridge to get his pilot's license, which he says was sparked after flying in an airplane in 2015 for the Young Eagles program.

"I've never flown in a really small aircraft, but once we got up I was in love and that's what I wanted to do with my life," said Baldridge.

His scholarship was one of about 100 given across the country.
