Sherman ISD holds 3rd meeting discussing school zone changes

Map of the Sherman ISD attendance zone plans for the 2021 school year on display at Fairview Elementary.

SHERMAN, Tex. (KXII) - Sherman ISD held its third community meeting to talk Transition 2020 on Thursday night.

The topic of new zones that dictate which school kids will attend brought a crowd to Fairview Elementary School.

The change in attendance zones comes as Sherman announces the shuffle of fifth grade back into elementary schools from intermediate school.

The addition of the new middle school and the opening of the new high school give ample opportunity to redraw the lines, according to Assistant Superintendent Tyson Bennett.

The school board meets Monday and a discussion about the feedback they have received so far is on the agenda.

The board is expected to vote in December or January on the approval of the new zones.
