SHERMAN, Tex. (KXII) - Sherman City Council voted Wednesday to approve an Animal Control Advisory Committee to help the city's animal control department.
The committee, which is required by Texas law, will have eight members.
Animal Services Manager Ty Coleman says the committee members will be appointed by city council.
Coleman says four Sherman citizens will be a part of it in an effort to get people more involved in decision making.
"It benefits us when we're making any policy changes or ordinance changes that affects the residents and we're able to get their input directly," Coleman said.
City staff will present the recommended members in March for council approval.
