SHERMAN, Tex. (KXII) - A Sherman man has been sentenced after pleading guilty to child porn charges.

Grayson County District Attorney Brett Smith says Gerald Thomas Smith, 35, pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of child pornography and was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Gerald will be required to register as a sex offender for life.

Officials arrested Gerald in June 2019 after an investigation by the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

A press release from District Attorney Brett Smith states Gerald admitted to downloading and viewing child pornography for two or more years.

"Gerald Smith knew what he was doing was wrong, and accepted responsibility for his crimes. He will have a very long time to think where he is going,” said District Attorney Brett Smith.
