Sherman man sentenced to life for sexually assaulting teen

SHERMAN, Tex. (KXII) - A Sherman man was sentenced to life in prison in Grayson County district court this week for sexually assaulting a teen girl.

A jury found Cesar Sermeno, 43, guilty of aggravated sexual assault of a child, then sentenced him to life behind bars and require he register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

The abuse was reported in 2018, and the victim was a 13-year-old girl.

Sermeo confessed to the crime during an interview with police last year.

Prosecutors said Sermeno must serve a minimum of 30 years before being eligible for parole, and if he is granted parole he will be subject to deportation due to an immigration hold.
