Some Denison ISD buses damaged by flood waters

DENISON, Texas (KXII) -- Denison ISD had 14 school buses damaged in this past weekend's flooding.

Denison ISD starts the school year down 14 buses due to flooding at the Service Center this past weekend.

Superintendent Dr. Henry Scott says the 8 1/2 of rain caused about 4 1/2 water to flood at the bus service center

Mechanics tell us the engine, transmission, exhaust pipes and the interiors of buses were soaked with water.

But the superintendent says parents shouldn't worry about not being able to send their kids off to school.

"Sherman and Bells and some of the others have agreed to loan us extra buses to help with the routes," Scott said.

Scott said they don't know how long it will take to fix the buses.

Scott also said the district will explore ways to prevent the service center flooding in the future.
