Soper Elementary student is Choctaw County's 1st COVID-19 case

A Choctaw County, Oklahoma, school district says an elementary student recently tested positive for COVID-19.

According to Soper Public Schools, the student who tested positive has been out of school for 14 days.

"Today is 14 days that students have been out of school so if you or your child are not showing symptoms, DO NOT worry," the district said in a Facebook post. "We are sharing this information with you only because it is within the 14 day timeline and today is DAY 14. The child is doing fine, but continue to pray for their quick recovery! Parents have done everything by the book and are following their doctor's instructions."

This is the first confirmed COVID-19 case in Choctaw County, which becomes the sixth southern Oklahoma county in the KXII viewing area with confirmed COVID-19 cases. Garvin (2), Pontotoc (1), Bryan (1), Carter (1), and Stephens (1) counties all previously reported positive tests.
