Staff member at Gainesville State School tests positive for COVID-19

GAINESVILLE, Tex. (KXII) - Texas Juvenile Justice Department Executive Director Camille Cain announced Tuesday a Youth Development Coach at the Gainesville State School tested positive for COVID-19.

A news release states the TJJD staff members has not been on campus since May 8 after leaving work for an "unrelated medical issue."

The release states the employee decided to get tested three days later after developing symptoms. She is currently at home.

TJJD is working to identify anyone who may have come in contact with the coach during the past 14 days. They will be testing all youth in the dorm where the employee worked and any who left those dorms during the past 14 days.

TJJD says no other staff members or youth at the Gainesville facility have exhibited symptoms.
