OKLAHOMA CITY (KXII) -- After deliberating four hours on Thursday, the Oklahoma State Department of Education suspended Shelley Jo Duncan's teaching license.

"The Oklahoma State Board of Education suspended the teaching certificate of Shelley Jo Duncan pending individual proceedings or for revocation or other action," Department Executive Director of Communications Steffie Corcoran said.

Duncan is the Tishomingo teacher who was arrested this past week for an inappropriate sexual relationship with a 14-year-old student.

On Friday, a State Department of Education spokesperson said Duncan was on leave, but added that the district won't tell the State Board of Education whether she is still getting a paycheck.

Questions to the Tishomingo School District are referred to the superintendent, who is Duncan's husband, Kevin Duncan. He has not returned our phone calls seeking comment.
