Surveillance video shows thief stealing thousands in tools from Ardmore business

ARDMORE, Okla. (KXII) - An Ardmore business owner is out thousands of dollars after a thief steals tools from several work trucks Sunday night and it's all caught on camera.

Brad Yelton owns Top Tech Heating Air & Electrical on Sam Noble Parkway in Ardmore.

He said one of his employees came in Monday morning saying he had tools missing.

"Then the other guy come in and two more guys came in," Yelton said. "That's when we went through the cameras and found people had actually taken a lot of stuff out of the truck."

Surveillance video from around 11:30 p.m. Sunday shows a man opening several trucks, returning about an hour later for a second trip.

He took about $6,000 worth of equipment such as hand tools, power tools and specialty tools used for heating and electric.

"It's a little creepy to watch somebody go through your stuff and there's nothing you can do about it except watch them carry it off," Yelton said.

Yelton said he and his employees were upset at the act.

"These guys are up here providing for their families and we got people stealing stuff so they can't do that."

Yelton said business did not take much of a hit since he replaced all of his employee's tools out of his own pocket.

"As long as we can go back to work and they have the tools, but somebody's got to pay for that," Yelton said. "A thief, they don't care about any of that stuff."

Sgt. Brice Woolly with Ardmore Police Dept. said detectives are following leads from the surveillance and crime scene investigators did find evidence the suspect left behind.

"They did collect fingerprint evidence, DNA evidence and other evidence that may link a potential suspect to the crime," Woolly said.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect is asked to call Ardmore police at 580-223-1212.

"I just hope they catch him so they don't do it to the next guy," Yelton said.
