TISHOMINGO, Okla. (KXII)-- The Oklahoma State Board of Education confirmed today that a Tishomingo teacher suspended for lewd acts with a child may be getting paid.

In late September, the state board suspended 48-year-old Shelley Duncan's teaching certificate after her arrest for inappropriate texts she sent to a 14-year-old student.

But director of communications Steffie Corcoran says that suspension order is not related to pay. It only prevents the teacher from being in the classroom.

This follows last night's board meeting, where superintendent and Shelley Duncan's husband, Kevin Duncan, said she is entitled to pay during her suspension under the Teacher Due Process Act.
