SHERMAN, Tex. (KXII) - The Texoma Council of Governments says there is a new scam offering free cheek swabs for DNA or genetic testing.

They say this is happening in public places like grocery stores and senior centers.

The warnings say the scammers ask for Medicare numbers and other personal information, and then use that information to submit fraudulent claims.

Experts say you should never give private information to people you don't know or numbers you don't recognize.
