Teen pulls friend from burning RV

DENISON, Tex. (KXII) -- "I don't know how I'm alive. That's the only thought that's going through my mind is, I feel like we both should have died from that," said 17-year-old Randall Dodson.

He doesn't want to be known as some sort of hero.

He and His best friend Mikey were on their way to Platter flats to ride bikes and fish on Friday when the RV they were driving exploded.

"I remember we were going down 84. I looked out the window, looked back in and he was on fire and we were going off the road," said Dodson.

The two had driven Dodson's dad's RV somewhere almost every weekend since they could remember, always together.

"I remember we got the door open an he took off sprinting into the middle of those trees and I took my shirt off and just started to put him out," said Dodson.

Witnesses said Dodson never left Mikey's side, until he was flown to a Plano hospital with 3rd degree burns on his arms, legs and torso.

"It took a will and courage, the courage of a lion to step into the fire. And to walk out unscathed, man, that's the blessing. That's what heroes are made of," said Randy Belcher II, Dodson's uncle.

Dodson doesn't see it that way.

"I did what needed to be done to help him, that's how I see it," said Dodson.

Dodson credits his faith and the love he has for Mikey for his actions that day.

"It is a miracle. It's nothing but a miracle...I feel like his brother. I did what a brother should have done," said Dodson.
