Teen runaway girls arrested for armed robbery in Duncan

DUNCAN, Okla. (KXII) - Police say two teen runaway girls wanted for robbing a Duncan convenience store at gunpoint earlier this week are now in police custody.

According to Stephens County court records, Quinayah Thomas and Macie Hemls, both 16 years old girls from Duncan, went into the Shop N Bag on South Highway 81 just after 4 p.m. Wednesday.

A probable cause affidavit states Thomas first pointed a pistol at the clerk and demanded money, then Helms took the gun away from her, telling the clerk, "We aren't playing. Give us the money."

It states the clerk complied, and the two left the store.

Police quickly identified the pair from surveillance video. The clerk told police she recognized the teens from previous Facebook posts by the Duncan Police Department concerning the two being runaways in the past.

Police say during their investigation a man called to report two firearms stolen from his home - a small caliber handgun and a BB pistol. The clerk identified the pistol as what was pointed at her during the robbery.

Both girls were apprehended Friday. Details on their arrests have not been made public.
