Threat prompts Collinsville ISD to briefly lockdown schools

COLLINSVILLE, Tex. (KXII) -- Early Tuesday morning Collinsville ISD was briefly under a lockdown after a high school student made a gun threat.

No one was hurt, but the district was under lockdown for about three hours.

Police say the 18- year-old Collinsville High School student was detained and taken to a hospital on an Emergency Detention Order.

Collinsville Superintendent Mark Dykes issued a statement: "The safety and security of all students and staff in Collinsville ISD is our top priority. It is the District's understanding the Collinsville Police Department is investigating this matter, and the District is cooperating with the investigation. Collinsville ISD takes this matter very seriously and will follow all Board policies, the District's Student Code of Conduct, and all state and federal laws regarding any issues involving students."
