TISHOMINGO, Okla.-- Shelley Duncan is a teacher, high school cheer leading coach, wife to the superintendent, and is on reserve with the Murray State College Police Department. And this morning she was arrested by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations for inappropriate relations with a 14-year-old male student
The 48-year-old was arrested Friday morning, in the parking lot of the alternative education building...where she works.
"We investigate when we are requested by a local law enforcement agency." OSBI Spokeswoman Jessica Brown said. "We were searching for her this morning, and we found her at the school."
The Tishomingo Police Department called OSBI Monday to investigate a complaint they received last Friday... from the mother of a 14-year-old boy who said he was in a relationship with the 48-year-old teacher.
Court documents say investigators took and searched the phone, only to find numerous inappropriate text messages between Duncan and the boy.
"If that would've happened to my son, I would have made sure she got in a lot of trouble." A concerned mother, Tammie Thompson, said. "That is disgusting."
Documents say Duncan referred to the boy as "boo" and "love." It also says the boy told police she had taken him back to where she worked, and they undressed and touched each other inappropriately.
"It's just wrong. She should know better. She's in all these authority positions," Tishomingo employee Andrew Beason said. "She's helping the police department, she's doing all this...she should know."
They would discuss where they'd have sex on the app Snapchat, so the messages would be erased. The boy said at one point, Duncan told him she would give him oral sex with a cough drop in her mouth.
Some parents we talked to are outraged.
"If the allegations are true, I think they should hang her high." Thompson said. "It doesn't matter that he's a little boy...that he's a boy. He's 16, he's not little."
Duncan posted $20,000 bond Friday afternoon. She faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
