Tornadoes confirmed in Pontotoc, Seminole counties

An EF-1 tornado destroyed a barn in Pontotoc County Sunday night.

KONAWA, Okla. (KXII) - The National Weather Service has confirmed an EF-1 tornado hit Pontotoc County Sunday night.

NWS officials said the tornado began about 10 miles southwest of Konawa near the intersection of Highway 3W and DR 1450.

The tornado destroyed a barn and damaged more buildings. The tornado was given a preliminary rating of EF-1. NWS officials are still investigating.

A second tornado, about three miles northeast of Konawa, snapped several power poles and damaged trees. The tornado was also given a preliminary rating of EF-1.
