Troopers: McAlester woman dead after swerving to avoid deer

HAYWOOD, Okla. (KXII) - An Oklahoma woman is dead after trying to avoid a deer in Pittsburg County.

Troopers say Lacey Hill, 26, of McAlester was driving east on State Highway 31 near Haywood just before 9 a.m. Tuesday when she swerved to avoid a deer. That's when troopers say the pickup hit a 4-foot ditch.

Hill was pinned for 20 minutes and pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger, an unnamed minor, was not injured.

Troopers said only the minor passenger was wearing a seatbelt.
