FORT WORTH, Texas (KXII) -- A driver accused of killing four North Central Texas College softball players in a crash has been found dead.

According to Tarrant County Medical Examiner records, 55- year old Russell Staley died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound Friday, at his home in Saginaw.

Court records show Staley was due in court this Friday.

Federal transportation officials allege Staley was under the influence of synthetic drugs when the truck he was driving crashed into the NCTC softball bus on I-35 in Murray County in September 2014.
