PAULS VALLEY, Okla. (KXII) - A truck driver has been charged with two felony counts of manslaughter after a fatal crash in Pauls Valley in March.

Troopers say Billy Melson was driving a black semi-truck with large rocks in his trailer when one fell out.

They say the 40 to 50-pound boulder went through the windshield of a passing SUV, killing passengers 83-year-old Flora Perkins and 89-year-old Wanda Oliver.

The driver of the SUV, 66-year-old Norma Caldwell, was not injured.

OHP says Melson did not stop because he didn't know a rock had fallen out.

Melson is out on a $5,000 bond.
