VAN ALSTYNE, Texas (KXII) -- A Van Alstyne man was arrested at a Dallas hotel earlier this week, accused of shooting a man in the leg.
On Monday, a SWAT team was called out to a Dallas hotel for a report of an active shooter.
The suspect, Jeremy Chaney, 37, allegedly entered a hotel room and shot a man in the leg.
No one else was hurt and Chaney was arrested a few hours later.
Neighbors we spoke with say Chaney has lived at this home in Van Alstyne for nearly a year and has already had several run ins with the law.
"We thought they had gone up to New York on vacation because we have not seen them for several days now. Until we just found out the news about the shooting."
Dallas police are not releasing the victim's name but say his injuries were not life threatening.
They say a woman, who is also not being named, was inside the room during the shooting, but managed to escape.
Police believe it was all a case of domestic violence.
Rose Kanady, who lives across the street from Jeremy Chaney, his wife and son, says although she's never had any problems with him, other neighbors have had to call police.
"There has been several instances where they have had the police come out because of domestic disturbances."
Police say Kanady is right.
In fact, they've been to this home nearly 20 times this year alone.
But Monday's shooting still comes as a surprise to Kanady.
"Pretty much shock and disbelief because I would never have thought that they would have done something like this but when you put the heart at issue, anything can happen."
And she tells us police aren't the only ones who have been called out to the home.
"Yelling and the screaming and the cursing with the little boy involved and at the end of school, they had to involve CPS had to come out."
We visited the Chaney home, but no one answered.
