Carter Co. couple charged after inappropriate touching during jail video phone call
A Carter County couple are charged with child neglect after a jail video phone call shows the wife inappropriately touched herself in front of her 2-year-old child while on the video call with her husband from jail.
"She was at home, and she was performing inappropriate acts,” said Carter County Sheriff Chris Bryant.
Alexander Ferre was already in jail for domestic assault for strangling his wife back in August.
Two weeks later, Ferre called his wife from a video kiosk from the county jail, and according to the sheriff’s office, Alexander asked her to perform sexual acts.
Their 2-year-old child was in the room.
"He was observing everything,” said Sheriff Bryant. “What we're able to do is that we're able to monitor their conversations and even before this we were able to monitor their conversations."
A sheriff’s report said the video shows the child being pushed off the bed, and it was so loud that you can hear the child hit the floor.
Later, the sheriff's report says the mother breastfed the child near the end of video while the sexual acts are still taking place.
"This is another form of visitation and instead of having a one on one and a person coming in, they can do a visitation at their location."
The video call between Ferre and his wife took place in August with the two arrested on Tuesday.
Alexander remains in jail on $500 bond.
The child was taken into state custody.
