PARIS, Tex. (KXII) -- Walmart in Paris won't match competing prices starting October 16.
A Walmart representative on Thursday explained the company is phasing the price match service out of certain markets in the U.S.
He said Walmart made the decision two years ago to invest $2.7 million in national and private-label brands, hoping that move would control prices more effectively so the price match service would not be needed.
Paris is one of approximately 800 stores no longer offering the service and more will follow within the next year.
The spokesman would not comment as to whether Walmart plans to make this a company-wide policy.
