ADA, Okla. (KXII) - Residents are speaking out on Saturday's officer-involved shooting that left a 29-year-old man dead at the scene at his apartment complex in Ada.
Witnesses speak out on Saturday's officer involved shooting on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2019.
Jim Nelson live across the street from where the shooting happened on E. Arlington St. near Francis Ave.
"I walked out about 10:15 a.m. yesterday morning, and there were emergency vehicles everywhere,” said Nelson.
Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation Spokeswoman Brook Arbeitman said four officers arrived around 9:45 a.m and reportedly tried to speak to the man involved with the shooting.
Matt McDonald works at the Busy B’s gas station nearby and said he saw the start of the incident.
"They went in and a few minutes later. I don't know if the girl came out the front door or she came out from somewhere in the house, but she came running out and hiding behind a tree,” McDonald said.
Arbeitman said an argument broke out between the man and police with shots being fired around 10 a.m.
"And then it wasn’t very long after that there were three shots, and then we were like, was that really shots?" said McDonald.
Arbeitman said one officer was injured.
"Anytime we are investigating an officer involved shooting, there's no specific timeline for how long this takes. It takes as long as it takes. But we will gather all of the evidence, we will interview all witnesses and put together a report that is gathered to the district attorney,” said Arbeitman.
Investigators have not released the name of the man shot and killed by police.
