Woman convicted in 2014 murder looking for change of venue for punishment trial
A Lamar County woman who pleaded guilty to murder is looking for a change of venue for her punishment trial.
Ashley Morrison, 23, was convicted in 2017 and sentenced to 30 years in prison for her role in the 2014 murder of retired North Lamar teacher Annie Lois Sims.
A Texas appellate court reversed the conviction, sending the case back to court for a new trial.
Morrison pleaded guilty in November 2018 in exchange for a sentence no longer than 30 years.
Her next court date is set for March 2.
