Denison woman in fatal pedestrian crash remembered

SHERMAN, Tex. (KXII) - Sherman police are investigating after they say a woman was hit and killed while walking across the street Friday night near FM 1417 and Park Avenue.

It's not the first time a pedestrian has been hit and killed on the road.

Sherman police say 29-year-old Raven Loehr was walking across FM 1417 just after 9 on Friday night, when an SUV headed southbound hit her, knocking her into the northbound lane where another car hit her.

She died on the scene.

Her boyfriend, Tim Curry, said she was outgoing and funny.

"She had a sense of humor, loved to play with my dogs, and go to the lake. All sorts of stuff like that."

He said the two met while walking down the street in Denison, where they both live, and hit it off-- together ever since.

"She was a beautiful girl, I want everybody to remember her by that, and just say lots of prayers for her."

Curry said the news came as a shock, and he doesn't know what she was doing there Friday night.

Police say they're investigating why she was crossing FM 1417.

"I wouldn't predict anything like that to happen to anybody," said Curry.

We have reported on at least six fatal pedestrian crashed on FM 1417 since 2013.

Curry said to just slow down and pay attention, especially at night.

Police said they're still investigating what happened Friday night.
So far no arrests have been made.
