Woman killed, Choctaw Co. undersheriff critical in crash outside Hugo

CHOCTAW COUNTY, Okla. (KXII) - A Finley woman was killed and the Choctaw Co. undersheriff was critically injured in a crash outside Hugo Friday afternoon.

Troopers say it happened just after 1 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. Highways 70 and 271 between Hugo and Soper.

They say 66-year-old Shirley Johnson was southbound on US-271 when she failed to yield at a stop sign attempting to turn east onto US-70.

Her Toyota Prius was struck by a westbound Choctaw County Sheriff's Dept. pickup driven by 51-year-old Undersheriff Jody King.

King was flown to Plano Medical Center in critical condition with head, trunk, internal, and arm injuries.

Troopers say the crash remains under investigation.
