Woman working inside as car shop catches fire, destroys shed

POTTSBORO, Tex (KXII) - A car shop is destroyed after a fire started this morning.

It happened just after 11:30 off Elsey Drive in Pottsboro and took firefighters about four hours to put out.

A woman who was working inside tells us materials exploded and lit on fire. She tried to put it out but said the fire extinguishers didn't work.

The chemicals and gas in the shop caused several explosions-- and then the second floor collapsed.

A truck had to come and pull materials out before firefighters could fully put it out.

Nobody was hurt, but neighbors say it was scary.

"The place was billowing big balls of fire, and then it was 'pop pop pop pop' and it went on for 15 minutes. It was insane," a neighbor said.

The shop, dubbed Art's Bug house, was used to repair and remodel Volkswagen beetles.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

A GoFundMe has been set up for the shop owner. https://www.gofundme.com/rebuildartsbughouse
