Work begins to improve Paris' parks

PARIS, Tex. (KXII) -- This past May city voters passed a half-million dollar bond that will help fund the improvement of city parks in Paris and Monday work began at Oak Park.

City crews began maintenance and repair work Monday afternoon.

City Manager John Godwin says the new playgrounds at Oak and Wade Parks will cost about $200,000.

Private fundraising efforts have already raised about a quarter of the total costs thus far.

The city is matching those donations.

Phase two of the project will utilize remaining bond funds to apply for grants from Texas Parks and Wildlife.
